As Elizabeth begins to become fond of Mr. Darcy; she learns from Mr. Wickham, whom she has a crush on, that Mr. Darcy cheated him of his dream. Elizabeth is so disappointed with Mr. Darcy that she wants nothing to do with him.
Elizabeth is so preoccupied with Mr. Whickham that she doesn’t notice that Mr. Collins, her cousin, has feelings for her. While Elizabeth is totally unprepared Mr. Collins asks her the most important question a girl could be asked, but she politely declines to her mothers dismay. When Elizabeth rejects him Mr. Collins moves to the next best person.
